Eve

Eve
With her calm approach to life, Eve was chosen to become a Facility
Dog in an aged care unit in Cairns, where she soon became a
great favourite with all the residents.
Her duties include delivering mail and newspapers each morning,
providing companionship and a bit of laughter and joy to what is
often an uneventful day.
Eve seems to be able to sense if one of “her people” is not having
a good day and will sit quietly beside their bed, offering comfort to
the person and a feeling that they are not alone and that somebody
cares.
Having Eve at the facility can bring a welcome distraction from
pain and infirmity— her visits are something to look forward to
each day. This creates a sense of sharing a common interest and
a topic of conversation.
Many people in nursing homes have had to give up pets and they
miss the unconditional affection and acceptance that an animal
can give.
Just by being there, Eve has brought happiness and comfort to a
lot of people.
