Craig Murray - Renowned Dog Training coming to Mareeba
ASDOGS(NQ) is proud to announce that Craig Murray will be coming to Mareeba on the 8th of September to talk about dogs and dog training.

Craig Murray is an internationally certified and specialist dog trainer.

Talk starts 08:30am and finishes at 5pm. Topics of the talk are
Basic dog psychology
Identifying natural drives and instincts and how to use them to best advantage
Classic and operant conditioning and using motivators other than food.
The talk will be held at the RSL Hall Mareeba and there are a limited number of seats so register early if you would like to come.
Tickets are $100 per person or $80 for pensioners
Registration form can be found HERE
You must complete, pay and send the registration form to gain a seat.
Also included in the price is morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea.
Mad as Dogs Team completes Wheelbarrow Race!!
Last weekend from the 18th to the 20th of May the Mad as Dogs Team were mad at work raising funds for ASDOGS(NQ) in the Wheelbarrow race that went from Mareeba to Chillagoe.

A special thankyou to the team and those who supported them in their quest to finish the race.
This years race attracted the highest number of teams and the Mad as Dogs came in 11th place.
All up the team covered 150km averaging 13km/hour.

Mothers Day Raffle has been drawn
The Mother Days Raffle was drawn on the 12th May.

Mareeba ANZ and our new Ride on Mower
2 more news articles are now on our blog. Its all happening with Mareeba ANZ giving us their full support during the Blue Week Fundraising initiative and our grant from the Gambling Community Benefit Fund that allowed us to get that ride on mower that we so desperately needed.

Great Wheelbarrow Race 2007 preparation
The Mareeba Centre for Tropical Agriculture [CTA] has put in an entry for the Great Wheelbarrow Race 2007 and chosen ASDOGS (NQ) Inc. as the charity group to raise funds for. CTA has over 120 staff in 4 government departments [QDPI&F, QDNR, EPA & AQIS NAQS], all of which are involved with the race entry. The race, from Mareeba to Chillagoe will be held over 3 days, May 18 to May 20. Each race team is allowed 10 'pushers' and one support vehicle. Each team are provided with a standard Kelso wheelbarrow so that each team faces the same challenge.

Fund raising events have started already including selecting a team name [$1 an entry] which was won by 'Mad As Dogs'. Subsequently CTA is selling dried mangoes and has even had a cane toad race where all entries have donated $2 for their amphibious steed. The team is now in training and has already called on ASDOGS Publicity dog Max for help.

This raffle was recently drawn and the winner was Melanie Burrowes from Atherton. Congratulations Melanie!!

Special thanks to Pam for organising the raffle and to all those who sold and bought tickets.
The funds raised will further support ASDOGS(NQ) in a number of ways.
As always we are looking for volunteers and puppy raisers.

Ross Storey (Member of ASDOGS(NQ)) recieves Community Award
News just came through that Ross Storey received an Australia Day Community Service Award on Australia Day. One of the reasons for the award was that Ross helped set up ASDOGS(NQ) many years ago. In fact he is one of the founding members.
